A standout student from Gering is being celebrated as the school year wraps up. Gering Public Schools and Western Nebraska Community College (WNCC) are recognizing GHS senior Guri Hayer, who is achieving a dual graduation with both a Gering High School Diploma and an Associate of Science Degree in Engineering from WNCC.
Superintendent Nicole Regan of Gering commended Hayer, stating that he embodies the spirit of a Bulldog through and through. Hayer’s academic journey with Gering Public Schools began in kindergarten at Geil Elementary. His dedication to learning, combined with his unwavering determination, has earned him the admiration and respect of his peers and educators.
Looking ahead, Hayer shared that he will be attending a partnership program with Georgia Tech and Emory University to pursue a major in Biomedical Engineering. This marks Hayer as the second student in successive years to accomplish the feat of a GHS/WNCC dual graduation.
Hayer’s achievements are truly commendable, and he serves as an inspiration to his fellow students. His drive and commitment to academic excellence are evident in his accomplishments.
