Collaboration Between Seatrium and Shell on Floating Production Systems

April 15, 2024 | by The Jeuns

Seatrium, a leading oil and gas company, has recently signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Shell Global Solutions International. The goal of this collaboration is to explore and enhance opportunities in floating production systems. The focus of the MoU is on standardizing and replicating projects to promote best practices in design and construction.

Both Seatrium and Shell aim to leverage their expertise and knowledge from previous projects to mature and realize the benefits of replication. By tapping into each other’s strengths and technologies, they hope to incorporate lessons learned from past projects to drive success in future endeavors.

This partnership builds on the existing working relationship between Seatrium and Shell, with a history of collaboration on various projects. The most recent project, the Sparta floating production unit (FPU), is designed as a replicable project that utilizes the group’s topsides single lift integration methodology. This follows the successful fabrication of Vito and Whale FPU newbuilds in 2021 and 2023, showcasing the companies’ commitment to innovation and efficiency in the oil and gas sector.
