In the last decade, the global transfer market has completely changed. The biggest clubs in the world earn much more and are not ashamed to spend the profits on explosive purchases, but it is also clear that the purchases are sometimes a requirement or a request of the coach. So who is the most extravagant coach in the world? They checked on the ‘Transfer Market’ website, and the findings are particularly interesting.
Since the beginning of the 2000s, there are only six coaches in the world who have spent over a billion euros on acquisitions in their various teams. If there are fans who think that Pep Guardiola must be in first place, then they are not far off, but actually his great rival spent more than him in his coaching career.
1.71 billion euros. This is the unimaginable amount that Jose Mourinho has spent since the beginning of the 2000/01 season on the purchase of 104 players in the various teams he coached. His great rival and coach of Manchester City, Pep, is right after him on the list with 100 million less – 1.61 billion euros with which he acquired 67 players throughout his years as a coach.

The podium is closed by the coach of Real Madrid, Carlo Ancelotti. The Italian has spent €1.38 billion on the acquisition of 88 players across all the teams he has coached since the early 2000s. Those who come after him and close the billion euro club are Manuel Pellegrini, Maximiliano Allegri and Diego Simeone.
The coaches who spent the most since the 2000/01 season:
Jose Mourinho: 104 players – 1.71 billion euros.
Pep Guardiola: 67 players – 1.61 billion euros.
Carlo Ancelotti: 88 players – 1.38 billion euros.
