Kia has unveiled its latest electric vehicle, the EV3, a compact car aimed at a wider audience due to its affordability and solid range. While maintaining the boxy design of its predecessors, the EV6 and EV9, the EV3 presents a more approachable package.
With plans to bring the EV3 to the U.S. in the near future, Kia is looking to expand its electric vehicle lineup. The EV3 will offer a choice between a 58.3 kWh or 81.4 kWh battery, providing a range of up to 600 kilometers or 372 miles. The introduction of Kia’s i-Pedal 3.0 regenerative braking technology will further enhance the vehicle’s efficiency.
Despite a more modest performance with a top speed of 105 mph and a 0 to 62 mph acceleration time of 7.5 seconds, the EV3 is equipped with V2L compatibility, allowing users to power external devices with the battery. Inside, Kia introduces its AI assistant, enhancing the user experience by providing assistance with travel plans and entertainment.
Kia plans to launch the EV3 first in Korea and then in Europe before making its way to the U.S. While specific details on pricing and availability in the U.S. remain undisclosed, Kia aims to offer the EV3 at an affordable price point, targeting around ,000. The automaker will need to manufacture the EV3 at its Georgia plant to qualify for federal EV tax credits, making it a desirable option for U.S. customers seeking compact and cost-effective electric vehicles.
