‘Ownership of the Neighborhood Post Office’

The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) maintains a vast network of nearly 165 million delivery points throughout the country, utilizing around 32,000 locations. Surprisingly, USPS does not own all of these properties, as more than three-quarters of them (about 25,000 properties) are actually leased from approximately 17,000 different owners. Postal Heritage Properties, a New York-based real estate company, specializes in acquiring USPS-leased properties and works with current or future postal property owners in an advisory capacity.

The process of brokering the sale of postal facilities is more intricate than one might imagine, as these buildings are often architecturally unique, prominently situated, or celebrated as civic landmarks by their communities. Oftentimes, these properties have been in the same family for generations, making the transactions for ownership transitions particularly sensitive. Postal Heritage eases this transition by offering advisory services to current postal property owners who are concerned with preserving their family heritage.

According to the company, Postal Heritage Properties was established with a commitment to assisting generational postal owners in transferring a piece of their family legacy to a trusted partner. Jason Sakeni, the CEO of the firm, stated, “Our company specializes in purchasing properties leased to the U.S. Postal Service and offering expert advisory services to current or potential postal property owners.”
